Yet again, Miley Cyrus, former Disney doll has caused quite the stir in the news and is leaving parents questioning where her parents are.

The 17-year-old Hollywood hottie has gone from making pop-culture history to notoriety in no time flat. Like every other Disney star, Cyrus seems to be trying to break away from the overly-sweet, na've, picture-perfect good girl mold that "the Mouse" requires of it's stars. Why this persona is such a horrible thing at 17, I have no idea.

With all the Britney Spears' and Lindsay Lohans' of the world roaming around Hollywood, one would think that any parents of child stars would be fighting to keep their kids clean, sober, and innocent as best they could----which is, by the way, how Cyrus' parents first started out.

Cyrus grew up in the spotlight of her father, musician Billy Ray Cyrus (not to mention godmother Dolly Parton), so she was no stranger to fame. As she entered her tween years, Billy Ray and Miley signed on to what would become the Disney phenomenon of "Hannah Montana." It didn't take long for Miley to make it onto the map, and soon Hannah Montana was being seen on tween clothing, lip gloss, shoes, backpacks, lunchboxes and essentially every item a girl of that age could want. Parents were thrilled that their children finally had a decent role model to look up to.

Back in 2007, the family was featured in People with the cover story being "Raising a teen star (the right way!). In the article, Billy Ray said "the biggest phenomenon in all this is that the kid's been able to keep her head on her shoulders." The secret that the article revealed about how to keep a teen on track? Church. Miley and all of her siblings were required to attend services with the family each Sunday. The article also detailed how Miley felt she could tell her dad "anything" and how her mom felt that Hollywood was a dangerous place for kids. "It is so scary as a mom to see all these kids who are so whacked now," said Leticia Cyrus.

Cyrus' mom files to change name

Miley Cyrus' mother has followed in her famous daughter's footsteps - she wants to legally change her name. Cyrus' country singer dad Billy Ray and mom Leticia named their daughter Destiny Hope when she was born in 1992.

They quickly dubbed her Smiley due to her cheerful nature, which was later shortened to Miley, and the Hannah Montana star officially took on her moniker in 2008.

Now her mother is following suit - Leticia has filed to have her name changed legally to her nickname Tish. In the application papers, she insists she has been known by the moniker "for as long as she can remember".

Billy Ray Cyrus will co-star with 21-year-son Trace in a reality show that investigates UFO activity, Syfy announced Tuesday.

In “UFO: Unbelievably Freakin' Obvious” the Cyrus boys investigate conspiracy theories about unexplained activity and paranormal phenomena, the cable network said in a statement.

"Getting the opportunity to take this adventure with my son, who has always had a keen interest in this area, is a dream come true," said the country music star.

Billy Ray Cyrus, 49, made fame in the country music scene with his “"Achy Breaky Heart” single but re-emerged on the entertainment scene when he co-starred with his tween-starlet daughter Miley on Disney’s “Hannah Montana” for four seasons.

Trace was the frontman for the Metro Station rock group - which broke up earlier in 2010.

“Our audience craves authentic, compelling and informative storytelling that pushes the boundaries of our normal world,” said Mark Stern, head of programing for the NBC Universal-owned network said in a statement announcing the new show. “Allegations of cover-up and conspiracy around unexplained phenomena has inspired heated debate for decades,” Stern said. “It will be interesting to see what truth Billy Ray and Trace may discover.”

According to Billy Ray this is an exciting new departure for him. “The existence of paranormal phenomena is something I’ve always wanted to explore further,” Cyrus said in the press release about the show. “I hope this series can shine a light on some of the activities we have questioned, and the mysteries that have long inspired us.”

Also starring on the show will be Trace Cyrus’ real life best friend ”Silent Franky” who will deliver data and information from his “parent’s basement” while the dynamic Cyrus duo tour the country in their quest for the “real truth”

Okay, she "can't be tamed." We get it. Young women in Hollywood, including Hilary Duff, Dakota Fanning and Lindsay Lohan, have all taken turns showing the world they're all grown up. For Cyrus, the hits just keep on coming. The 'Hannah Montana' star cannot be a Disney girl forever, but she can't be totally oblivious about how her antics are turning heads and profits.

Cyrus has pole danced on an ice cream cart, posed nearly naked in Vanity Fair and kissed a girl (move over Katy Perry) during a live TV performance. We buried her "good girl" image a long time ago, so why do we care so much about her shocking antics? Perhaps its because she's done all of the above in the spotlight -- all before her 18th birthday.

The attention for 'LOL' has skyrocketed because we see Cyrus -- as herself -- not the character. Oh my gosh, what will Miley do next?! The leaked script (was it really an accident?) has created so much publicity for a film. In a recent PopEater poll, 66 percent of readers thought this movie was an awful career move for Cyrus.

"Controversy alone doesn't always help at the box office," New York Daily News film critic Joe Neumaier tells PopEater. "I think Cyrus' worry ought to be whether the young girls who've followed her career for so long will care about a remake of a French film. She's not a draw for women over 25 or 30 -- the ones who'd presumably be the most interested -- and teens will only really appreciate the title. That doesn't mean 'LOL' will be DOA, but it does mean a few too many audience members will be asking, 'WTF?!'"

The Cyrus camp is pretty business savvy, though. Cyrus ranked No. 4 on Forbes magazine's list of the highest paid celebs under 30 thanks to the estimated $48 million she reportedly earned in 2009. Although 'Hannah Montana' made her famous, she's bringing home the Benjamins thanks to her tour and movie roles in both 'The Last Song' and 'Hannah Montana.'

'LOL' will likely succeed at the box office with everyone hoping to sneak a peak at Cyrus' "bad girl" side. Plus, as Neumaier points out, Cyrus' reputation won't be tarnished because respected actress Demi Moore plays her mother in the film.

"Miley will actually be part of a parade of sassy girls past and present here -- Demi Moore plays her mother, and Marlo Thomas, star of 'That Girl' in the '60s, will play Demi's mother. Three generations of cool chicks in one package ... sounds like Miley had a thought and realized that, at least on film, she needed advice from her elders. Which can only help: Julia Roberts did it in 'Steel Magnolias,' and Mandy Moore did it in 'Because I Said So.' Now, it's Miley's turn," the film critic adds.

You have to hand it to Miley -- even at 17, she's a pure business woman. People can criticize her all they want, but she knows what she's doing -- look how much money she makes.

“For me I get this amazing blessing and opportunity to do this every day and get up on stage and hopefully inspire people with my music. And that’s something that’s really important to me, but so is getting involved in charities,” the Daily Telegraph quoted Miley as saying.

The charity aims to help connect young people with volunteering opportunities in their local communities, and Miley believes it is a good way to show charity begins at home.

“You don’t have to travel 30 hours... you don’t have to give a billion dollars. It’s not about how much or how far, it’s about looking at your neighbours and seeing how you can help. Two years ago she was No. 1.

And the main reason for that would be the transition of Miley Cyrus herself. Ashley Tisdale, the actress who brought High School Musical's snobby bad-girl Sharpay Evans to life, steps outside the Disney fold this Friday, starring in Aliens in the Attic, her first post-HSM feature. And she's not stopping there: Tisdale's sophomore album, Guilty Pleasure, aimed at a more mature audience, hit shelves Tuesday.

In Aliens in the Attic, Tisdale plays college-bound high school student Bethany Pearson, whose family's vacation home in Michigan gets invaded by pint-sized aliens. She shot the film just before High School Musical 3, knowing it would be the first thing fans see after she finished the Disney trilogy.

The New Jersey native, 24, says she's taking her career to the next level but is in no rush to grow up or out of her niche.

"I'm easing into it," she says. "If you go too far, that can kind of hurt you. So I just take baby steps. Once you're playing the older roles, you're there forever after that. You can never go backward. So I'm taking my time getting there."

Tisdale's Guilty Pleasure, a guitar-driven record on which she co-wrote five songs, pays homage to her musical influences, including Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.

"The subjects (of the songs) are a little bit more mature. There's a lot of breakup songs, and then there are songs that are role-playing in a relationship, and innuendos like 'I like what you do to my hair,' so I think you know where that is going," she says, slightly embarrassed. "As a young kid, you don't listen to what they're saying or what they're singing about. You like the beat. You like the music."

One thing Tisdale doesn't like: "the Hollywood life."

"I've gone to clubs before because I love to dance … but I don't drink or do drugs or smoke. That's something that's not typical, I guess," she says. "I think I'm a big hypochondriac. I see people and it's sad what happens to people when they go down these roads — really talented people."

Plus, "I've never liked the taste of alcohol. It's not like I haven't had it before. I just don't like the taste. At an early age, I was like, 'So why would I do this?' I've never been a weak person. I'm very strong. I've never given into peer pressure. My mom instilled confidence in me, and I always felt if I'm going to do something, it's because I want to do it."

Tisdale hopes to tour with her album, and though she doesn't have any more movies lined up, Aliens director John Schultz says her future is bright.

"She is like a young Barbra Streisand. She can really be a big comedic actress and then belt out a tune and probably direct a movie in the future," Schultz says. "I hope that she doesn't try to be something she's not. Everybody always wants to do dramatic and meaty roles — and she probably will do that and do it very well. But she has a gift of comedy that she should never step too far away from. "

"When I'm in a movie, I'm not one of those people who forgets their place. I was a third lead in that movie. I was not the star of High School Musical. It was always based on Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens' characters. I loved my character — she was amazing — but she wasn't the star."

On growing up in the spotlight:

"My mom and dad wanted me to have a normal childhood, so I went to regular school my whole life so I could have those experiences. I worked in clothing stores growing up, even though I didn't really have to. They wanted me to learn the value of a dollar. At an early age, I knew what I wanted."

On her personality:

"I can be stubborn sometimes and headstrong, but I honestly think it's because I know what I want in life."

On the paparazzi and tabloids:

"They just try to get a reaction out of you so they can sell it and say 'Ashley is crazy!' They're just stalkers with cameras. I just block it out of my life. I'm a very positive person, so I don't really read that stuff. It's not a normal thing to have to go through. I don't find myself that interesting."

On her future:

"I know I'll always have to work hard, and I'm OK with that. With people I grew up with in the business, a lot of it did come easy for them. It was like they just landed into something. But with me, it's always been a difficult road, I've always had to work hard for it. But I don't think I'd have it any other way."

Miley Cyrus' music video for her ballad song "The Climb" has been leaked despite announcement marking February 16 as its premiere date. Lasting for almost four minutes, it mostly features scenes from her upcoming film "Hannah Montana: The Movie".

Beside showing Miley riding horse with Lucas Till, who plays her love interest in the movie, the video captures her swinging back and forth in a rope near a waterfall. It also includes an acoustic set where she picks up her guitar and sits on the floor, singing to the song.

"The Climb" is a new single taken from the soundtrack of "Hannah Montana: The Movie". It was performed for the first time by Miley on January 19 when she took the stage of "Kids' Inaugural: We Are the Future", the free gig celebrating Barack Obama's presidential ceremony.

"Hannah Montana: The Movie" itself will arrive in U.S. theaters on April 10. Directed by Peter Chelsom, the comedy movie stars Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Mitchel Musso and Emily Osment among others.

Even often cold-hearted film critics appear taken with Disney's theatrical edition of High School Musical . "The third chapter of the phenomenally popular franchise crystallizes a moment in movie-musical history that is probably as evanescent as it is triumphant," writes Stephen Holden. He credits the film's success not only to "the shrewd mixing and matching of proven formulas," but also to the performances of the two stars, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. "Mr. Efron's athletic grace is Astaire-like in its casual authority. Ms. Hudgens's blissful smiles melt the screen," he remarks. John Anderson in his review for Newsday offers almost grudging admiration. The movie, he says, "is eminently watchable, occasionally very funny, and sweet enough to give you diabetes." Forget the plot, advises Cllaudia Puig in USA Today . "What grabs and keeps our attention are the pretty faces, infectious songs and eye-popping dance moves." Likewise, Tasha Robinson comments in the Chicago Tribune that the movie "is frustratingly shallow, but what it lacks in narrative ambition, it makes up for in dazzling choreography." Bottom line, according to Catherine Dawson March in the Toronto Globe & Mail "Disney raised the stakes by turning its hit TV-movie franchise into a feature film - and the bet has paid off." On the other hand, Kyle Smith in the New York Post makes no attempt to hide his scorn for the movie, writing that "the jokes are awful, the intrigue minimal ... [and] the musical numbers ... are at the level of a Mentos commercial."

Miley Cyrus And Emily Osment Discuss Valentine's Day

Miley Cyrus and Emily Osment have been rumored to have feuded in the past, but the pair has always claimed they're great friends, even when they're off the set of Hannah Montana. Both of them recently spoke to M about a subject near and dear to the hearts of millions: Valentine's Day.

Emily Osment says the best thing about Valentine's Day this year is that there's no school.

"It's nice to have off V-Day," she said.

This year Valentine's Day is on a Saturday, an added bonus, to be sure. Emily is in the mood for a fun get together for the holiday this year.

"I want to have a big V-Day party with all my girl friends," she said.

Miley isn't interested in being quite as social.

"I love to chill out at home," said Miley. "And eat lots of food and rent movies."

Not only that, Miley says Valentine's Day is a great day to explore her hobbies.

"I love making picture frames and collages," she said.

Fans will get to see a lot more of Emily Osment and Miley Cyrus, as well as the whole cast of Hannah Montana very soon. The Hannah Montana movie will hit theaters April 10th.

For all you Hannah Montana fans, Mitchel Musso, known as Oliver from the Disney Channel hit television series Hannah Montana, was seen at Islands restaurant in Valencia. Marissa Nava ran into the teen superstar and was lucky to capture a photo with the actor. Mitchel also starred in the movie Secondhand Lions, played the voice of Jeremy on Phineas and Ferb and DJ on the movie Monster House.

Actor Taylor Lautner recently stopped by our offices for an interview. He had the starring roll as Sharkboy in Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Taylor also played Eliot on the sequel in the movie Cheaper by the Dozen and will soon be seen as Jacob Black in Twilight. Be sure to look for his story in the December/January issue of élite Magazine.

He plays the D.A. on the television series Medium. Actor Miguel Sandoval was seen shopping at Trader Joe’s in Valencia. “I approached him and asked for an autograph,” states Santa Clarita resident Irma Valles, “He was very kind and very funny. Meeting Miguel made my day!” Miguel has appeared in many films, some of which include Do the Right Thing, Jurassic Park, Clear and Present Danger, and Blow. He’s also had guest roles in popular series such as Frasier, The X-Files, Law and Order, E.R. and Seinfeld.

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 11/9/08 – The Disney Channel usually bends over backward when it comes to anything related to its pride and joy, teen idol Miley Cyrus. E! News confirmed Saturday, however, that the season premiere of the network’s flagship sitcom, “Hannah Montana,” had been indefinitely postponed over concerns it might not treat diabetes in a serious enough light.

“No Sugar, Sugar,” an episode originally scheduled to air Nov. 2, was to introduce Cyrus co-star Mitchel Musso’s character, Oliver, as a diabetic. Though a Disney spokesperson told E! News advice from medical experts had been incorporated into the script, a strong response from concerned parents shown a preview of the finished product gave the company cold feet.

“Notwithstanding the measures we took, and based on the episode’s preview and early feedback from parents, we removed the episode from Sunday’s schedule and are now reevaluating it,” the rep said.

An installment of the show originally scheduled to air later in the season preempted the controversial piece. It was not immediately clear if Disney would reshoot all or part of “No Sugar, Sugar” or scrap it altogether.

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder causing abnormally high levels of blood sugar in those with the disease. As a result, diabetics must limit their intake of foods high in sugar and, in some cases, regularly inject themselves with hormone insulin.

OMG! Teen Star Surprises Students

Mitchel Musso, who plays Oliver on Disney's "Hannah Montana" series, made a surprise appearance Thursday at a Legacy Elementary School assembly to promote proper hand-washing.

The event began with a presentation by area pediatrician Martin Foreman, owner of Reston Pediatrics, who put his prewashed hand under a black light for the audience to see -- eww, lots of germs -- and then again after scrubbing with hand sanitizer -- ahh, no germs.

The students were then treated to a short video about proper hand-washing techniques featuring Musso.

Then, OMG! The teenage heartthrob entered the auditorium to a cacophony of yells and squeals.

"Clean hands are cool hands!" the children shouted, in response to Musso's request to repeat after him.

The star took some questions about germs and hand-washing from the students and asked them to join him in a thematic song before the assembly ended.

Principal Rob Duckworth said he was approached last month by HCA Foundation officials, who sponsored the assembly. "It was finalized just last week," he said.
